DJ Frank Delour Crafts Emotional Danceable Melodies With New Single ‘AYA’

Afro house DJ and producer Frank Delour has released ‘AYA’, an Afro House track meticulously crafted to capture the essence of luxury and movement. Frank Delour is a world traveling DJ with a fine tuned ear for setting the tone for a party. He gets any crowd he’s performing for moving and grooving by observing his audience and catering to them. His latest single, “AYA,” is an afro house track that exemplifies his love for creating music with layered percussion, subtle melodic movement, and restrained vocal energy. The environment Frank Delour was in when he created “AYA” couldn’t have been more fitting for the luxurious feeling the song has. Composed in his mobile studio as he was poolside at a friend’s estate in Rome, he worked on the song from afternoon to sunset. “The idea was to build a strong high energy record that built up slowly.” he said. Frank’s track “AYA” sits comfortably in the afro house genre. A sub genre of house that utilizes afrobeats elements, he prefers setting the musical tone of events with this as opposed to the percussion based drops often associated with electronic music. Still, he wants people to feel uplifted, positive and bright when they hear the song. When performing, Frank Delour ensures he does his part to make sure his audience is having a good time. With the parties he’s performed for including The MET Gala, fashion brands and high end restaurants, luxury is a key component. The music he selects reflects this with many of the songs having calming emotional melodies with just enough energy to keep people dancing but still able to hold a conversation. “I like to ease people in. I’ll usually start with a smooth groovy vibe and slowly build that up to a frenzy. I draw them little by little and elevate the energy as the night goes on.” he said. Reading the room is an essential component of being a DJ. Frank Delour prides himself on this, often not bringing a prepared mix with him when performing at an event. He prefers to do it this way and get a real time feel for the environment he’s in. “I’ve never planned a set in my entire career…I’ve learned to trust myself from the beginning of my career and never really changed that aspect. Doing it this way really locks me in with the energy of the space and the people that I’m with at the moment. I prefer to do it that way, it works for me and it’s been effective.” he said. Frank Delour knows that as a DJ his assignment is to get people dancing and he also understands that dancing has power. Movement is the body’s natural response to music and he uses this knowledge to help shape how the people in the room feel and respond to the music. “Everything is vibration, we’re all vibrating beings and music is an extension of that. That means we all naturally relate to music. Whether we embrace it or push it away, it gives us a feeling. And dance music taps into the tempo of making us physically move.” he said. Frank Delour described his next release titled “Light Path” as “Bob Marley meets house” because of the social commentary it gives on multiple things happening in the world today but it will have afro house production. He also has an album on the way along with additional EPs on vinyl for DJs to use in their own mixes. “AYA” is available on streaming services now.
