In a recent interview with The Times, Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter spoke about how he has no plans to reunite with former longtime duo-mate, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. When asked directly whether the pair will plan to reunite, he answered with a short answer, “no”. However, he said he’s “really happy that throughout our long run we were able to not screw it up.” While the news is disappointing to Daft Punk fans, there is a lot to be excited about as Thomas also explains, “There are other things to explore” beyond Daft Punk with recent projects as he began touring his new orchestral project ‘Mirage — Ballet for 16 Dancers’. He also spoke of his first performance back in the UK in 19 years on his recent performance with Fred Again at London’s Alexandra Palace on February 27th 2026. When speaking about his performance with Fred Again on his USB 002 tour, he said that “most of the Daft Punk songs were played by Fred” and commented on the energy of London crowds, saying: “They were going crazy at 7:30PM — only in the United Kingdom!” It was a legendary performance that was a once in a life time experience for the audience. He also recently released a new vinyl mix aired on The Lot Radio following the live stream. It’s an interesting mix where he played music from his current musical direction that featured songs from his ballet production, Aphex Twin, Burial, Boards of Canada and more. The set list is available here. In the interview, he also spoke of the split of Daft Punk “I was one of the robots, but now I’m just a human without any superpowers,” he said, and how he plans on moving on to other projects. He explained how happy he was about the success of the project since announcing the split in 2021: “The history of music is made of fruitful partnerships, and they usually last way shorter than the 28-year run that we had. It was great, but staying in character and not spoiling it became very difficult,” he added. You can read the full interview here.
