Mumbai-born electronic artist Tej has released his debut EP, HEY ME, IT’S ME, on San Holo’s bitbird label. The six-track project arrives following a year of rising momentum driven by viral edits, playlist placements, and early editorial support across major platforms. Now based in the United States, the 25-year-old producer has steadily built attention through a hybrid approach that blends melodic songwriting with bass-focused production. Tej’s breakout year included viral traction on social media, highlighted by an edit of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites” that surpassed 200,000 views. His original material has also found placement on Spotify playlists such as Fresh Finds Dance and Trap Mojito, along with Beatport’s Best New Trap/Future Bass and YouTube’s New Dance 2025. With HEY ME, IT’S ME, Tej formalizes that momentum into his first cohesive body of work under the bitbird banner. A Personal Debut Framed Around Memory and Distance The EP centers on themes of memory, family, emotional distance, and the process of personal change. Rather than following a single stylistic template, the six tracks move through shifting structures and evolving arrangements. The focus track, “A MOMENT I REMEMBER,” combines chilled electronic textures with expressive vocal chops and bass-driven phrasing, presenting a reflective tone shaped by layered melodic elements. Tej has described the project as a personal checkpoint shaped by overlapping emotions tied to living between Mumbai and the United States. That duality appears throughout the EP’s construction, with glitch-based vocal processing and melodic shifts designed to reflect different internal states. Previously released tracks including “I NEED MORE,” “NOT ALONE,” and “ALL I CAN DO (time)” avoid repeating fixed drops or static patterns, instead unfolding in sections that change shape over time. The EP also drew direct praise from San Holo, who highlighted the emotional and personal quality of Tej’s work. The release positions Tej within bitbird’s roster of artists focused on emotionally driven electronic production, while allowing room for bass-heavy dynamics and rhythmic contrast across the project. Tour Dates and Next Steps To support the EP, Tej will join Nikita, The Wicked as direct support on a national tour beginning January 24. The run includes dates in Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Brooklyn, Phoenix, and additional U.S. cities, bringing the new material to live audiences shortly after release. Scheduled stops include venues such as Q Nightclub in Seattle, The Midway in San Francisco, Meow Wolf in Denver, Chop Shop in Chicago, and Elsewhere in Brooklyn. The tour provides Tej with his first extended national exposure as a touring artist following the EP launch. Rather than functioning as a simple introduction, HEY ME, IT’S ME serves as a defining statement for Tej’s next phase. The project reflects an artist consolidating his sound after early traction, with a release shaped by emotional themes and a touring cycle designed to establish his presence across U.S. markets. With support from bitbird and a full tour schedule underway, HEY ME, IT’S ME marks Tej’s formal entry into 2026 as an emerging electronic artist with a growing audience and a distinct emotional and bass-forward production identity.
