Spotify’s AI DJ just became multilingual. The streaming service added support for French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese this week, expanding its conversational music feature to eight new countries including Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Portugal, South Korea and Switzerland. According to The AI Insider, the feature now operates in more than 75 countries after initially launching in English and Spanish only. Each language version gets its own distinct AI persona and name designed for that specific market. For dance music fans, the update means better playlist curation in non-English markets where electronic music often dominates streaming. The AI DJ has evolved well beyond its original concept — users can now request specific tracks, switch genres mid-session, or adjust the vibe through text or voice commands, similar to ChatGPT or other conversational AI tools. What This Means for Dance Music Discovery The expansion could shift how electronic music gets discovered in key European and South American markets. Countries like Germany, France and Brazil have massive dance music scenes but haven’t always had algorithmic tools that understand local preferences beyond generic playlisting.
