During a recent Brooklyn Community Board 1 meeting, representatives for Pacha New York outlined plans to transform the space formerly known as the Brooklyn Mirage into a venue centered around safety, community coordination, and responsible nightlife operations. The proposal comes as operators seek the transfer of an existing liquor license for the venue located at 111 Gardner Avenue and 140 Stewart Avenue in Brooklyn. The presentation marked an effort by Pacha’s leadership to reassure local residents and officials that the new venue will operate differently from the previous ownership, introducing new operational systems designed to address concerns around safety, noise, and neighborhood impact. A “Safety-First” Approach to Venue Operations Central to the proposal is a comprehensive safety plan built around modern crowd-management and security technology. Among the most notable changes is the implementation of AI-powered real-time capacity tracking, which allows operators to monitor attendance levels throughout an event and ensure the venue remains within approved limits. The venue also plans to introduce advanced security screening technology at entry points, designed to improve safety while allowing guests to enter efficiently. Pacha representatives said the venue plans to introduce shuttle buses connecting the site to nearby transit hubs, including the Morgan Avenue and Jefferson Street subway stations. Additional measures include enhanced pedestrian lighting along designated routes, coordination with ride-share services, and the use of independent traffic management personnel to help control vehicle flow during major events. To improve communication and safety during large gatherings, the venue has also installed a dedicated Verizon 4G/5G macro cell site, intended to strengthen mobile connectivity for guests, staff, and emergency responders in and around the venue. Addressing Noise Concerns Noise has historically been one of the most common concerns raised by residents near the venue. In response, the new proposal includes a series of acoustic engineering solutions designed to reduce sound spill into surrounding neighborhoods. These include directional speaker systems designed to contain sound within the venue, automated decibel monitoring systems, and enforced volume limits to ensure performances remain within New York City noise regulations. Sound checks are also planned before each event, with monitoring systems capable of automatically reducing volume if limits are exceeded. Sanitation and Neighborhood Impact The proposal also includes a defined sanitation plan aimed at maintaining the surrounding neighborhood after events conclude. According to the venue’s operational plan, cleanup crews will be deployed following every event to remove litter and maintain nearby streets. Operators say this approach is intended to help keep the surrounding area clean and minimize the impact of large-scale events on nearby businesses and residents. Economic and Community Contributions Pacha representatives also highlighted the potential economic benefits the venue could bring to the neighborhood. At full capacity, the venue is expected to support more than 450 jobs, while generating an estimated $75 million in annual economic activity and contributing approximately $4 million in tax revenue each year. The company also emphasized the global hospitality experience behind the project, noting that the Pacha brand has been a fixture of electronic music culture since its founding in Ibiza in 1973. Addressing Past Guest Concerns Another point raised during the presentation addressed unresolved issues tied to the previous venue’s ticketing disputes. According to the company, more than 30,000 guests affected by past ticketing problems have received compensation, totaling over $3 million in value returned through redemption programs. While the new operators say they were not responsible for the previous issues, the effort was presented as part of a broader attempt to rebuild trust with the dance music community.
