EDDIE Talks “Step On It” and the Influences Behind His Current Sound

EDDIE (@whoiseddie_) returns to HypnoVizion with “Step On It,” a tense, low-end-focused single built around abrasive synth work, slinking rhythm, and cybernetic vocal details. The record follows his earlier HypnoVizion releases, including Onzeker Kraft Vol. 1, Onzeker Kraft Vol. 1.5, and collaborations with REZZ such as “Maleficent” and “ZONE.” The track was shaped around a specific visual idea: an underground rave under an abandoned brutalist bridge in Europe, with slow-motion movement, fashion-week attitude, and a no-phones atmosphere. That mental image gives the release its identity, with darker club pressure, industrial texture, and a controlled sense of tension. In the interview below, EDDIE talks about curiosity, outside influences, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Nine Inch Noize at Coachella, and how artists like ISOxo and Ninajirachi have pushed him to think harder about presentation, identity, and long-term creative direction. Interview With EDDIE What’s exciting you in music right now that might have surprised an earlier version of you? Not a lot is surprising about what I like atm, given the musical influences I’ve had my whole life, I’ve always been exposed to so much variation in music. BUT i will say, the Nine Inch Noize coachella performance was insane and has definitely inspired me! What practices help you stay curious as your career evolves? Definitely diving into different genres within electronic music but also outside of it, art galleries, fashion events & travel, all these things have previously worked in my favor when it comes to keeping curious/inspired. When was the last time you were on the dancefloor simply as a listener, and what did you take from that experience? I saw rufus du sol in LA at the rose bowl more recently. In general I love them, especially being from Australia… but what stuck out for me the most and what I took from it was that they didn’t have any lavish, insane level of visuals, the focus was solely on them & the music and that inspired me a lot moving forward to be honest. Have any emerging artists recently reignited something in you? I’m not sure if they count as emerging or not since they’ve been killing it for a while now but I love seeing what isoxo & ninjarichi have been able to achieve with their brands. The world-building, not just sonically but aesthetically, is so cool to see & it made me want to be better. How do you maintain your connection to the craft as it moves from passion to profession? From my perspective, there is no profession in pursuing music as a career without having the passion. So passion & profession are one in the same in this instance. The connection to the craft is what stands out, I believe true listeners know when an artist isn’t authentic, so staying connected & being confident in what I’m making and working towards is crucial & something I’m making myself hyper aware about daily!
