Budakid Lifts ‘Chromium’ / ‘Dream Atlas’ Double Release From Upcoming Album

Budakid takes us two inches closer to his full-on artist album. Berlin-based producer and Flores label boss Budakid has dropped his double A-side release ‘Chromium’ / ‘Dream Atlas‘ today, serving as a preview of his highly anticipated debut album Dreams Stretched Beyond, set for release on July 3rd. The two tracks showcase different sides of Budakid’s production range while highlighting the diverse sounds found across his Flores imprint. The release has already garnered support from heavy hitters including Sasha, AFFKT, Solomun, Deer Jade, Joyce Muniz, Nick Warren, and Just Her. ‘Chromium’ The first of the two tunes, ‘Chromium‘, opens with a driving beat paired against subtle synths. The track builds around the vocal sample “Break it down like this“, layered synths that carry a distinctly retro-futuristic vibe. Crisp snares moog-like basslines create interplay with the lead elements. It’s a true Progressive track, taken very slightly to the after-hours realm. Speaking about the track’s creation, Budakid explained: “‘Chromium’ was a deep dive into self-reflection. What moves me, what pulls me onto the floor without thinking twice. I chased the elements that make me feel untouchable. Space compressed into a single cut. Time stretched and unfolded. There’s nostalgia buried in there, but it hits me different within a modern sound.” ‘Dream Atlas’ The flip side, ‘Dream Atlas,’ takes a more progressive approach with transcendental qualities that work as both a driving force and a meditative journey. The track features floating melodic elements and intricate synth work designed to create what the producer describes as “calm joy.” In my eyes, this is Budakid in its purest form. It’s introspective, it’s ethereal, it makes use of shimmering long reverbs, supported by rhythmic basslines, and stitched by a beautiful breakdown that allows for a range of emotions to bloom from you when you listen to it.
