The Sound Metaphors event at Berghain sets the stage for a night rich in electronic music history and innovation, starting with live performances from Dopplereffekt and The Sabres of Paradise. Dopplereffekt, featuring Rudolf Klorzeiger and To Nhan Le Thi, delivers their signature Detroit electro sound—an intellectual blend that transforms funk into mathematical precision, infusing their set with a timeless laboratory aesthetic. Meanwhile, The Sabres of Paradise, closely associated with the legacy of the late Andrew Weatherall, offer a sound that traverses post-punk into British acid house and dub experimentation, creating an evocative soundscape. As the night progresses from 23:00, both floors of Berghain become a playground for a diverse array of talent. Adrian Sherwood and Dennis Bovell will showcase their distinct takes on British dub, with Sherwood's industrial edge and Bovell's lovers rock sensibilities complementing each other.
