As part of Independent Venues Week, a celebration of the vital role that independent spaces and the teams behind them play in holding up our music scene, Seasoning have programmed a special night scoping out some of the best soundsystem sonics on the 4-point d&b audiotechnik soundsystem at The Old Blue Last. Aloka and Carré go back to back for a deep exploration through the percussive fringes of dubstep, coaxing groove from off kilter techno for two hour deep dive. Carré’s close association with the return of legendary dubstep label, Tempa and her own Fast At Work party/label have established her reputation among the best rising producers in the scene. Aloka’s hardcore breaks-from-tomorrow stylings balancing pacing and razor-sharp melancholy motifs have cemented him as one of the best producers of the sound. With eyes now fixed on the weird meeting points between bass and techno, this pairing is going to be quite a journey. Ottomani Parker is a collision of jazz and dub techno. Their live shows and records are steeped in improvisation, with live dubbing blending instruments, samples and percussive elements. The maelstrom includes the saxophones of Izz Karpel and Buster Woodruff-Bryant, Hayato Takahashi's keys and synths, Bint Mbareh's voice, Yusuf Ahmed’s drums, Phoebe Coco’s piano and voice, and Abraham Parker’s trumpet. At the controls is Big Hands (Andrea Ottomani), who live-mixes all into an array of rhythms and melodies,  with a heavy dub current at all times. Having released on labels such as Trule, Baroque Sunburst, Marionette, Teeth and Blank Mind, the group’s anarchic line up often morphs and expands to include more musicians, from UK jazz pioneer Alabaster De Plume to groundbreaking techno producers Soreab and Andrea Campisi (Sagome). Their work in the continuum between Al Wootton’s Trule and Big Hands’s Baroque Sunburst label? They seem comfortable blurring the dub-soaked edges of club music with experimental, ambitious jazz… pulling plays from the likes of mad miran and remixes from om unit. Kincaid returns to seasoning as he debuts his new live set in London. On the back of a year of carefully crafted performances catching eyes/ears/hearts at pe:rsona festival in France and recently at Berlin’s Ohm. 2025 also saw a full length album on Hypnic Jerks as one half of the Opsin project, where the vast openness of his sound design had space to breathe away from the pressures of the club. With top releases on Pressure Dome, Grid among others, scene is well set. Proper. Ostad and spr1ng br34ka are part of the seasoning family with a special closing service through swinging techno, 160 evoking our finest bogs, fens and marshes, steppers and dubstep.
