What is Room To: Reflect?

Back at the end of August, we held a happening in collaboration with renae-affiliated label A Sky Full Of Numbers. A handpicked ensemble of sonic hypnotists soothed our collective cares in a space transformed by projections, installations, beanbags and blankets. Weary weekenders, physically and mentally spent after days on the dance floor, sank down into sound and enjoyed an opportunity to relax, recenter and be reborn for the days ahead. It was instantly one of our favourite events, and now we’re extending the idea into Room To: a new ambient series, held at the end of each month. Each instalment will focus on a different meditation, but offer the community the same opportunity to come together and connect. Falling between the Winter Equinox and the Spring Solstice, Room To: Reflect unfolds in a liminal moment of transition, inviting us to turn inward. Inspired by the shared cycles we move through, often overlooked in the rhythm of daily life, the experience draws on long-held traditions of storytelling through nature and the arts. Taking place in renae’s second room, it becomes a site of connection where sound, light, visuals, and sensory elements meet, featuring an installation by multidisciplinary artist Bonez Bizzare. The day’s sonic journey is guided by a trio of local artists whose work is informed by their connection to the world around them. Sound Bath practitioner, ambient label and NTS favourite Golden Ratio Frequencies will open with a grounding DJ set drawing from deep drones, trance-inducing rhythms, and meditative textures designed to calm the nervous system and invite recalibration. Hannah Cobb follows with a live performance under her hypersea alias, moving fluidly between sound, atmosphere, and abstraction, informed by her multidisciplinary practice across visual art, writing, and emerging technologies. Closing the arc, DR MYSTERY delivers a narrative-driven DJ set that balances percussive energy with introspection, blending club rhythms, emotional depth, and fluid genre movement, holding space for both motion and reflection as the night gently unfolds.
