By 14, he was recording with friends, including Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, in a makeshift studio set up by his father. Cut Chemist became a founding member of both the influential rap group Jurassic 5 and the Grammy-winning Latin funk band Ozomatli, which inspired his appreciation for diverse musical styles while maintaining a connection to hip hop.
