To celebrate Chinese New Year, this immersive music bath draws inspiration from the spirit of the bamboo forest, symbolizing resilience and balance. Meanwhile, we’re paying tribute to Dou Wei, China’s legendary pioneer of rock as well as ambient, with a two-part journey in between motion and quietude following a Tai chi spirit, designed to sync your body and mind~~~ The first 40 minutes kick off with hypnotic dub techno, blending ecstatic energy with traditional Chinese instruments to get everyone moving into a collective flow. Then we transition into deep, minimalist ambient soundscapes, inviting you to sit, lie back, and find stillness. With the scent of burning incense filling the air, it’s a multi-sensory sanctuary along the East River: a place to dance, meditate, and reset for the Year of the Horse. --- Cece Zhang (张天晓) is a music artist specializing in left-field electronics, dark ambient soundscapes, and psychologically engaged activism. She has composed experimental theater scores, conducted EEG(electroencephalogram)-assisted performances, and performed improvisational electro-acoustic shows with various instrumentalists and producers. Her work reflects a pan-cultural upbringing and an oneiric approach to sound. Alan Lecheng Chao (晁乐成) is a music producer, multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer specializing in spatial audio. Working under the title Sovietaxi, and also as a part of the duo 羽片 Slice Feathers, his speciality is working with singer-songwriters to express their emotions. His solo projects are more emphasized on electronic ambient music that reflects tranquility, emotional tensions in East Asian culture. Inspired by the "Deep Listening" philosophy of Pauline Oliveros, this collaborative project of Cece and Alan integrates long-form hypnotic electro-acoustic music with intervention on long-term health and wellbeing. The artists curate a ritualistic, participatory environment designed to transport listeners into altered states of consciousness. Rather than offering an instant solution, the experience utilizes immersive soundscapes to foster mindful awareness and create the conditions necessary for nervous system regulation. Through a live blend of composition and improvisation, the performance moves beyond a simple concert to become a communal space for ecstatic resonance and deep connection.
