Riton

Riton, whose real name is Henry Smithson, began his career in the 1990s dance culture in Newcastle, where he launched his own promotions inspired by Renaissance raves. He later founded the Switch record label and was offered a job at Mark Rae's Fat City record shop in Manchester, releasing his solo material under the name Riton on Rae's Grand Central imprint. His debut album, Beats du Jour, blends soul, R&B, and house, connecting to hip-hop through its low end and Funkadelic keys.
